The Seattle Seahawks have issued a statement in the wake of the warrant issued for new defensive end Aldon Smith’s arrest.
“We are aware of the reports regarding Aldon Smith,” the statement reads. “Aldon notified us and we are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.”
According to reports, the arrest warrant for second-degree battery was issued by the St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana following an incident alleged to have occurred at a coffee house on the evening of April 17.
Smith is no stranger to the legal system having faced multiple criminal charges in the past. This latest incident is believed to have taken place just days after Smith signed his contract with Seattle.
