Seahawks sign four 2019 NFL draft picks to rookie contracts

After selecting 11 players in the 2019 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks completed the first wave of contract negotiations, signing four of their picks to four-year rookie contracts based on the NFL’s rookie wage scale.

The four rookies who are now under contract are safety Marquise Blair, defensive back Ugo Amadi, guard Phil Haynes and linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven.

Over the Cap lists the slot value of those four contracts to be:

  • Blair – $6.24 million
  • Haynes – $3.21 million
  • Amadi – $3.17 million
  • Burr-Kirven – $2.86 million

Even with those four contracts taken care of, that still leaves seven draft picks, including first-rounder L.J. Collier and second rounder DK Metcalf, unsigned.

Collier will command roughly $10.8 million, and Metcalf about $4.5 million, according to Spotrac.

The Seahawks will eventually reach contracts with each of their 11 draft picks, at which point they can be expected to turn their attention toward contract extensions for two defensive stalwarts: linebacker Bobby Wagner and defensive tackle Jarran Reed.
