Seahawks host a pair of free agent defensive tackles

The Seattle Seahawks, fresh off a hefty contract extension for star quarterback Russell Wilson, are still exploring the free agent market for upgrades.

Lately, they have been focused on the defensive line. After hosting former Chiefs pass rusher Allen Bailey, the team also took a look at interior defensive tackle Corey Liuget and veteran Al Woods, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Liuget spent the last eight seasons with the Chargers, starting out as an edge rusher and eventually moving inside. He’s racked up 24 sacks in his career, but injuries and a four-game suspension limited him to just six games last season.

Woods actually played in two games with Seattle back in 2011. He’s spent the last two seasons with the Colts, and totaled 24 tackles and one pass defended last year.

If Seattle signed either Liuget or Woods, they would step in and fill the role of departed veteran Shamar Stephen, who signed with Minnesota this offseason.

Although things are expected to get challenging with defensive end Frank Clark, Seattle looking at Liuget and Woods isn’t a strong indication that they are planning to move on from the star pass rusher, as both of them are primarily interior players.
