Seahawks hold highest winning percentage for ‘Monday Night Football’

The Seattle Seahawks, especially in the Pete Carroll era, have never been afraid of the spotlight.

An intense commitment to discipline and the “every game is a championship game” mentality seems to have worked for Seattle lately, as they have thrived on Monday, Thursday and Sunday night games over the last decade or so.

However, their commitment to winning “Monday Night Football” matchups has spanned their entire history, well before Carroll was in the picture.

In fact, the Seahawks hold the highest winning percentage in league history on Monday night games, going 24-10 — good for a .706 winning percentage.

Seattle’s success on Monday night has had its share of controversy. The “Fail Mary” game occurred on a Monday night game in 2012 against the Packers, and Kam Chancellor’s controversial forced fumble against the Lions in 2015 was also on a Monday night.

Perhaps most recognizable is Terrell Owens whipping out a Sharpie and signing the football after scoring a go-ahead touchdown against the Seahawks in 2002, during one of the many battles between Seattle and San Francisco that have occurred on Monday night.

The two NFC West opponents are set to face off on Monday again this week, with Seattle’s sterling record on the line against an 8-0 San Francisco squad.
