Seahawks Germain Ifedi helped start new youth Mexican football league

Seattle Seahawks right tackle Germain Ifedi headed to Mexico to volunteer at a Play 60 event for NFL Tochito, the country’s new youth football league.

Loosely translated, the tweet reads: “Germain Ifedi representing the Seahawks at the inauguration of the National Tournament of Tochito NFL 2019 in the Vince Lombardi category.”

NFL Tochito has 18 different teams, each named after a current NFL team. The rosters are made up of 10-12 year olds, with four boys and three girls on each squad.

The Baltimore Ravens team, based out of Queretaro, ended up winning the championship over the Pittsburgh Steelers, based in Mexico City.

Ifedi, along with defensive end Zach Kerr of the Broncos, were the two NFL players who came down to take pictures and sign autographs with the kids in the new league.

Play 60, now in its tenth year, is a global initiative by the NFL to get more kids outside and exercising – using current NFL players who are willing to volunteer their time to work with kids.
