Seahawks fans can expect ‘vicious’ player in Ezekiel Ansah

Free agent defensive end Ezekiel Ansah officially signed his contract with the Seahawks on Friday after a month-long courtship. The veteran had visited Seattle in April and had drawn interest from other teams around the league namely, the Bills.

After dealing Frank Clark shortly before the NFL draft, defensive end became a major need for the Seahawks, who selected TCU’s L.J. Collier in the first round. But Clark left big shoes to fill in Seattle, especially for a rookie with very few notches on his belt.

Enter Ezekiel Ansah, who plans to bring a special style of play to the Emerald City.

“They’re going to see a vicious player,” Ansah said via the team’s website when asked what Seahawks fans can expect. “Somebody who has grown to love the game and who is going to give it all he’s got to make plays out there.”

Drafted by the Lions No. 5 overall in 2013, Ansah has spent his entire career in Detroit. He played under the franchise tag last season but only appeared in seven games before finishing the year on the injured reserve due to a shoulder issue.

“I am really motivated right now,” Ansah said. “Not that I wasn’t motivated before, but I’m just super excited to be part of the Seahawks.”
