Seahawks facing more questions at tight end position

The Seattle Seahawks are battling a number of injuries at numerous positions but the tight end group is beginning to stand out.

The team added a couple of new tight ends Saturday morning before the mock game, signing Jackson Harris and Wes Saxton to replace Tyrone Swoopes and Justin Johnson who were both waived/injured.

“Yes, yeah. We brought in two guys yesterday and they played half the scrimmage, I don’t know how the heck they did that,” Carroll said Saturday afternoon. “I was actually dogging the other tight end how come it takes you six months to get here and these guys did it in one day. They did great today, and Coach [Pat] McPherson deserves a lot of credit for getting those guys coached up. They didn’t sleep last night.”

Following the scrimmage, Carroll also announced veteran tight end Ed Dickson – who did not participate in the practice – is suffering from a knee injury.

“Ed’s got a knee that’s bothering him a little bit,” Carroll explained. “We are keeping him off of his knee. We did MRI stuff and all that. We are taking a look at it. Break him for a couple of days and see what we’ve got.”

Fortunately for Seattle, Will Dissly has returned to practice after recovering all year from the torn patella tendon that landed him on the injured reserve after Week 4 last season.

The Seahawks are also looking to Jacob Hollister to make an impact this summer.

“Without a question,” Carroll said. “Jake continues to do good stuff. His mobility stands out, he’s catching the football really well, we like moving around. You can see he played all kinds of different spots today, so he’s doing a nice job.”

But will so many injuries to the position, the Seahawks might have to make some major adjustments before the start of the regular season.
