Seahawks extend 2nd-round tender to restricted free agent George Fant

The Seattle Seahawks have extended a second-round tender offer to backup tackle and tight end George Fant, which will pay the 26-year-old roughly $3.1 million dollars in 2019.

Fant filled in admirably as a tackle and a second tight end for Seattle last season, earning himself a 72.9 grade from Pro Football Focus. He even hauled in his first career reception, going for nine yards.

With Duane Brown and Germain Ifedi both returning to Seattle, Fant is expected to once again reprise his role as Seattle’s backup tackle alongside 2018 draft pick Jamarco Jones. Fant will reprise his unique role at the tight end spot as well.

“We love the big tight ends which we showed you with George Fant last year, he did a great job for us,” coach Pete Carroll commented at the NFL combine. “Will, George and Eddie Dickson that’s a pretty good group right there. They all are different and we’ll use them according to their strengths.”
