Seahawks escape Bengals with few injuries in Week 1 win

The Seahawks barely eked out a 21-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals to open the regular season and were also fortunate enough to escape Week 1 with relatively few injuries. Only three players left the contest early: cornerback Neiko Thorpe, tight end Will Dissly and defensive tackle Poona Ford.

Thorpe was the first player to leave the game, ruled out with a hamstring injury early in the matchup. Dissly was next into the locker room, listed as doubtful to return with a right knee injury. Ford was looked at in the medical tent late in the fourth quarter with a calf injury and did not make it back onto the field.

“I think it was Will that got hit on the knee a little bit,” coach Pete Carroll said in his postgame press conference. We gotta see what that means. Poona had a calf that kinda tightened up – I don’t know if it was cramping or not. So those guys didn’t finish the game. Neiko didn’t finish either with a hamstring that was bothering him, so we’ll see what that means.”

Carroll should be able to provide updated injury information during his Monday press conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PT.
