Seahawks elevate RB Adrian Peterson from practice squad for 49ers game

The Seattle Seahawks have three running backs listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. With starter Chris Carson also out for the rest of the season, Seattle is as thin as any team in the NFL at this position right now.

Help is on the way – in some form. The team just announced that the recently-signed Adrian Peterson has been elevated from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game. Peterson is 36 years old and long past his prime but has been to seven Pro Bowls and made four All-Pro squads.

Peterson will likely get some share of the carries with Alex Collins and DeeJay Dallas, who managed just 18 total rushing yards between them in Monday night’s embarrassing loss to Washington.

Practice squad players get two elevations during the season. After that, teams need to sign them to the 53-man roster for them to be active on gameday.
