Seahawks' Earl Thomas explains why he asked Cowboys to 'come get me'

ARLINGTON, Texas _ Seattle Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas downplayed his request to Dallas Cowboys' coach Jason Garrett to "come get me" after Sunday's game at AT&T Stadium.

Thomas, who attended the University of Texas and West Orange Stark High School, went to the Cowboys' locker room after the Seahawks' 21-12 win over the Cowboys.

"I went to the locker room to talk to Dez (Bryant) and I saw Coach Garrett. I've always been a Cowboys fan growing up," said Thomas, who has played for the Seahawks since 2010. "When I said 'come get me' I don't literally mean come get me now. I'm still in the prime of my career I still want to be here (in Seattle). But when Seattle kicks me to the curb, please, the Cowboys, come get me."

Thomas said Dallas is the only other "place I'd rather be if I was kicked to the curb" by Seattle. "So that's what I meant by it," he said. "People take life too serious. That's just who I am."

Thomas said a contract extension "would be a great Christmas present."

"Yes, I'm happy here. I love being here. This is where I started. I built my resume here ... I don't want to leave. I'm just going to keep balling and hopefully they see the value," he said. "But if they don't, please come get me."

Thomas laughed off the controversy, while not entirely scuttling the notion.

"It's a business and we have great young guys coming in," he said. "You never know."

Thomas and Bryant take trips together and see each other frequently since both have endorsement deals with Air Jordan.

"I just told him good game and that I love him," he said.
