Seahawks defense tallies 3 interceptions, fumble recovery in Cleveland

The Seahawks won an interesting matchup against the Cleveland Browns Week 6 to advance to a 5-1 start for just the third time in franchise history. Part of Seattle’s success was thanks to the defense, who was able to finish with four takeaways on the day.

“We have been talking about it all the time and we come up with four balls today,” coach Pete Carroll said after the win. “All across the board, everybody had a shot at it. That was a beautiful thing on defense to get the football back.”

Interceptions by Tre Flowers, Tedric Thompson and K.J. Wright as well as a forced fumble recovery by Ziggy Ansah helped to seal the deal for Seattle in Cleveland.

Ahead of the matchup, the Seahawks had prepared for just such an outing.

“We had a big week, we were talking about it,” Carroll explained. “There was Turnover Thursday – that was a day that was all about bunches, as well. There were three in a row on Thursday I think, so it was in everybody’s mind to see if we could pull that off today.”

Sunday’s victory in Cleveland earned Seattle its first 3-0 road start since 1980, and much of the credit goes to the Seahawks defenders.
