Seahawks defense has been tested over 1st half of season

The road to 6-2 on the year hasn’t been the easiest for the Seattle Seahawks, who now head into the second half of the season. The schedule only gets harder from here on out and Seattle still needs to clean up some mistakes to make a serious run at the playoffs.

The Seahawks defense has struggled at times and fans are still waiting for the pass rush to evolve. Injuries have also taken their toll on the unit calling for several changes to be made to the lineup.

“I’ve felt like we’ve been in a lot of situations that have tested us,” linebacker Bobby Wagner told reporters on Wednesday. “There have been a lot of situations where we have prevailed, there’s been a lot of situations where we didn’t do so great. I would say the biggest thing that I would want us to do is to be consistent and really understand what greatness looks like. Like the last game, when you have a lead the way we had a lead – being able to sustain that lead and make that lead grow.”

Seattle entered the break against the Falcons Week with a commanding 24-0 lead but faltered in the second half, winning by only seven points when the day was done. Wagner is still confident in the team going forward and believes the defense will step up its game.

“We definitely have to create more turnovers, and I feel like we will,” Wagner said. “There’s eight more games. I like the spot that we’re at. There’s been situations or games where we’ve been 4-4, or a lot worse records. So, sitting at 6-2 with a chance to improve and really take off defensively, I like our chances.”

The Seahawks’ next chance comes Sunday against Tampa Bay at home.
