Seahawks coach unfazed by criticism from Marshawn Lynch's mother

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell isn’t worried about his team’s losing start to the season – and he’s not fazed by Marshawn Lynch’s mom, either.

Delisa Lynch went into embarrassing mom mode on Facebook on Monday night, describing Bevell as “the worst playcaller ever” after her son was stopped on a fourth-and-one run play in overtime against the Rams on Sunday. The Seahawks went on to lose the game 34-31 and Lynch, in a lengthy post, wrote that Bevell should have been fired: “Yes, I said it: fired!”

But when asked about it on Thursday, Bevell didn’t bite. He said criticism of his play calling “comes with the territory” and insisted: “I’m glad we have passionate fans.

“I played quarterback, and that guy’s going to get more credit than he deserves, and people are going to be on him when you don’t win,” he said. “So same with what I’m doing. I’m totally confident in what I’m doing. I’m totally confident that I’m trying to get our team in the best position to win. And I’m glad that she’s passionate about it.”

Bevell said there was no beef with Marshawn Lynch, even though the pair hadn’t talked about his mother’s remarks.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll blew it off. “I haven’t seen the actual comments, but mom looking after her kid,” he said. “There ain’t nothing wrong with that.”

Delisa Lynch said the play was called only to justify the fact Seattle did not call a run play from the one-yard line in the Super Bowl. Russell Wilson’s pass was intercepted by New England’s Malcolm Butler with 20 seconds left, and the Patriots won the biggest prize in football.

“Too the smart azz media who wrote that’s why marshawn didn’t get the ball in the superbowl, how many times did russell get sacked yesterday,” she wrote. “Dont worry i will wait on the answer plus it was totally different at the superbowl the line was better than yesterday no blocking and to the offense caller who should have been fired yes i said it Fired !!!

“He is the worst play-caller ever the only reason he called that dumb azz play yesterday is to be able to justify the 1 yard that wasn’t called in the superbowl, but most fans already figured this out. were still on a mission but i know the Seahawks staff loves that play caller more than a win, go figure ‪#‎nfldontpayme# I love this team and will stand up to anybody who tries to destroy it boom!!!!”
