Pete Carroll: Seahawks center Justin Britt will undergo ‘major repair’ of ACL

The Seattle Seahawks will be entering the second half of the regular season without their starting center, Justin Britt.

Britt suffered a left knee injury Week 8 in the Seahawks’ win over the Atlanta Falcons. He left the game early in the first quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the matchup.

Coach Pete Carroll confirmed the worst during his Monday afternoon press conference.

“It is an ACL,” Carroll said. “He has to have a major repair.”

Carroll gave no further details about the surgery. With Britt out for the year, Joey Hunt is in line for the starting job.

Hunt subbed in for Britt in Atlanta and played the majority of the offensive stats. Carroll had high praise for Hunt during his morning radio show on 710 ESPN Seattle, calling him the “winningest pass-pro guy” in the Seahawks’ drills.

Drills may be one thing, but Hunt will need to prove he is much more than an impactful practice player as Seattle continues its run for the playoffs.
