After things were looking up for Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar, coach Pete Carroll announced on Wednesday that the veteran will stay on injured reserve and undergo season-ending knee surgery.
“Quinton is going to stay on IR,” Carroll told reporters. “He’s going to get his knee fixed. He just couldn’t make the turn. He tried really hard the last couple of weeks and he just can’t get over the hump on it. So he’s going to get that taken care of, soon I think.”
Dunbar struggled with this knee injury for a few games and only played in six contests for the entire season. With his year effectively ended, Dunbar finishes 2020 with 30 tackles, an interception, and five passes defended.
Dunbar is a free agent after this season, so his future remains up in the air. However, he will not be able to help the Seahawks any longer in 2020 and the organization may choose to let him walk considering they have a few bigger names entering free agency as well.
