Seahawks are ‘working on some stuff’ at the tight end spot

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a big blow last week with the news that tight end Will Dissly will miss the rest of the 2019 campaign with an achilles injury.

Dissly was off to another incredible start this season, and will now have to spend his second consecutive year recovering from a devastating injury.

The injury leaves Seattle very thin at tight end, with just Luke Willson and Jacob Hollister on the active roster. George Fant has played some tight end as well, although he is currently the team’s starting left tackle following an injury to Duane Brown.

The Seahawks did bring in a solid depth addition by re-signing Tyrone Swoopes to the practice squad, a move Pete Carroll was quite happy about.

“Tyrone Swoopes is in,” Carroll commented on Wednesday. “That’s good. He’s real familiar with us. We know what he can do and how he can help us.”

Carroll went on to say Seattle is, “working on some stuff,” a sign the team is exploring the trade market.

A few options thought to be on the market include Tennessee’s Delanie Walker, Cincinnati’s Tyler Eifert and Tampa Bay’s O.J. Howard.

It’s unclear if Seattle is strongly considering any of these – or other – options, but Carroll and GM John Schneider have never been afraid to make midseason trades in the past.

Plus, with a 5-1 record and in a hyper-competitive NFC West division, it stands to reason that a good tight end could be a big difference maker down the stretch.
