Seahawks announce roster moves to start training camp

The Seattle Seahawks have announced a number of roster moves ahead of the first day of training camp practice.

As reported earlier, Seattle has signed defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, who spent the previous two seasons with the 49ers. Mitchell adds a veteran presence to the defensive line in the wake of Jarran Reed’s six-game suspension for violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

With Frank Clark traded to Kansas City and Reed unable to return to the active roster until Oct. 14, Seattle acted quickly to ensure depth on the line as the team enters camp and practices kick off Thursday.

The Seahawks have also signed wide receiver Daniel Williams, an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State in 2017. Williams has spent time with the Jets, Browns and Redskins over the last two seasons.

To make room for Mitchell and Williams on the active roster, Seattle has waived undrafted rookies running back Marcelias Sutton and cornerback Derrek Thomas.
