Seahawks agree to terms with pending free agent kicker Jason Myers

The Seattle Seahawks are giving kicker Jason Myers another shot, agreeing to terms with the pending free agent on a four-year deal in the $15 million to $16 million range. The deal is not official until after the new league year begins at 1 p.m. PT today.

After four seasons with Jacksonville, Myers came into camp with Seattle last season but ultimately lost the job to veteran Sebastian Janikowski.

Myers ended up with the Jets, where he was named a Pro Bowler after knocking in 33-of-36 field goals (including 6-of-7 from 50-plus yards) while converting 30 out of 33 extra-point attempts.

Janikowski wasn’t quite as solid, completing 22-of-27 field goals attempted and 48-of-51 extra points. He was not expected to return to Seattle after injuring his hamstring in the first half of the Seahawks’ playoff loss to the Cowboys. At age 41, it’s possible he’s played his last NFL game.

Myers likely has the kicker job locked up, although Seattle did sign former Rams kicker Sam Ficken to a reserve/futures contract early in the offseason.
