Seahawks acquire Quandre Diggs from Lions for 2020 5th-round pick

The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their safety depth in a big way on Tuesday, acquiring Quandre Diggs and a 2021 seventh-round pick from the Detroit Lions in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2020.

Diggs, 26, has been with the Lions for the past five seasons after being selected in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Texas.

He has recorded 229 combined tackles, 24 passes defensed and six interceptions in his career.

Diggs has experience at nickel and safety, so he will provide the Seahawks with a proven starter who can play at two key areas of need.

The Seahawks ran with Tedric Thompson and rookie Marquise Blair at the two safety spots in Week 7 against the Ravens, and have seldom used nickelback Jamar Taylor, choosing instead to stay in their base 4-3 defense.

With Diggs, the team adds an experienced, ballhawking, versatile defensive back to a group in need of some reinforcements following injuries to safeties Lano Hill and Bradley McDougald, who might not play in Week 8 against the Falcons in Atlanta.
