The Seahawks acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed in a trade with the Saints on Tuesday, hours before the trade deadline, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. In return Seattle is sending their 2026 fourth- and fifth-round picks to the Saints, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Shaheed joins the Seattle receiver room that includes arguably the best receiver in the game right now, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He leads the league with 948 receiving yards through eight games. Now quarterback Sam Darnold has another key target.
Shaheed will also reunite with Seattle’s offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who worked in New Orleans last season.
The receiver leaves the 1-8 Saints and joins the NFC West-leading Seahawks, who own a 6–2 record—quite the contrast. Shaheed will give Seattle an extra offensive boost that they need heading into their expected playoff run.
Through nine games with the Saints this season, Shaheed caught 44 passes for 499 yards and two touchdowns. He’s spent his nearly four-year NFL career all in New Orleans.
With Shaheed now gone in New Orleans, the Saints will rely more heavily on Chris Olave, who leads the team with 55 catches, 560 yards and three touchdowns. Veteran receiver Brandin Cooks will likely step up in Shaheed’s absence, too. He has 19 catches for 165 yards in his reunion season with the Saints.
