The transformation of a former port office into a fishmonger and seafood café has proved a major success.
The Menai Seafood Company moved into the Old Port office at Porth Penrhyn earlier this summer after a two and a half year renovation of the Grade II Listed building.
As well as being a cafe and fish shop it acts as an information point to explain the history of the local area and its fishing sector.
Mark Gray and James Wilson, of the Menai Seafood Company, said: “When you think of the history of this dock, and how things change, it feels really special that we have been able to contribute to the restoration of this quirky little building in this beautiful location.
“To have the opportunity to explain to customers and passing folk who pop in for a chat about the building, the slate trade and how it shaped the landscape is just as enjoyable for us as talking about seafood, both the extensive range we have on offer but also the nature of the global seafood sector."
James said that the venture had been going well and had been a welcome break to the nightmare with bureaucracy for the local seafood sector since Brexit.
The Menai Seafood Company in Port Penrhyn is open Friday 12-6pm, Saturday 11am-5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm.
