Seafield Road fire – rubbish set alight at railway bridge near Matalan store

A fire at a railway bridge is causing delays on Seafield Road.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of "rubbish on fire" on the route, close to Matalan in Craigentinny, shortly after 11am.

Crews put out the flames before ensuring the area was safe. There were no casualties.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 11.12am on Wednesday, April 17 to reports of rubbish on fire near Seafield Road East, Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire engine and crews extinguished the flames.

“There were no casualties.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
