Sead Haksabanovic 'set' for Celtic medical as inside man reveals the roles he will thrive in under Ange Postecoglou

Celtic target Sead Haksabanovic is poised for his Celtic medical as the £5.5m man closes in on his dream switch to Parkhead.

The versatile winger is available for a knockdown price due to desperate Rubin Kazan pushing for an exit for one of their best players amid financial woe. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has left their league in turmoil and they are aiming to cash in. Record Sport revealed Haksabanovic has his heart set on moving to the Premiership champions and a deal is escalating ahead of their Champions League tilt.

The 23-year-old has been on loan with Djurgården but a stay in Sweden long-term has been ruled out. And that has put the Montenegro international on course for Glasgow after previously spending time with West Ham in the past. There has been interest from four other clubs. And his former manager Jan Jonsson is utterly convinced he is a bonafide Celtic star in the making under Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Jonnson said: "I feel he now needs to move again and Celtic would be the perfect club for him. It’s a big club with Champions League football this season and it would really suit his strengths. I am very familiar with Postecoglou’s style from our time together in Japanese football. Creative players will enjoy his way of playing and I know Sead would enjoy it.

“For me, it would be the ideal place and the ideal coach for the next stage of his development. I last spoke to him a few weeks ago and I wish him all the best in the future. Sead is a good player and a great character. He has the talent to go and be a success at Celtic, if it happens. I like Sead coming in off the left in a 4-3-3 — he can be very effective in that area.

“But it all depends on the formation Celtic play. He is also very good as a No 10. So if Postecoglou wants to play with one or two attacking midfielders, then he is very comfortable there.

“Sead is a good, creative player and I am sure he would fit in with Celtic, no matter which system they use.”
