Sea shanty star Nathan Evans thought he had hit the back of the net as he helped his pals out at a football match - but it ended up being a bit of an own goal as he was trolled on Twitter.
The Wellerman singer filled in for a mate in a six-a-side game but there was no spare red strip for him.
So Airdrie man Nathan dug out the nearest thing he had - a red England home shirt.
Nathan recalled: “I wore it for the game. Afterwards someone asked for a picture. They said they were a big fan.
“He put the picture on Facebook then someone took it and put it on Twitter and it just blew up.”
Trolls were questioning Nathan’s support for Scotland – despite him singing Flower of Scotland at Hampden in the run-up to Steve Clarke's men's game with Croatia in the Euros and posting several messages of support for the national team.
He shrugged off the petty attacks, saying: “I’ve got different strips – Germany, Portugal, Belgium, loads of them. I watch football, I enjoy football.
“But someone has seen that photo on Facebook and thought, I’m going to write a comment.
“I was doing all the promo and then they saw me in an England top. They decided to wreck one side.”
Singing at Hampden, and watching the national team’s matches from the hospitality suite, is how the former postie now rolls.
He said: “Even though I’ve watched football for all these years I’d never been to Hampden before. So the first time was to do the draws for the Scottish Cup. They brought me in to sing Flower of Scotland while I was there.”
