Sea shanty Scot Nathan Evans tops charts in Germany and creates Old Spice song ahead of tour

Sea Shanty hitmaker Nathan Evans looks like he's following in the footsteps of Amy Macdonald with a number one in Germany.

And the Wellerman Tik Tok postie turned singer just performed one of his first big ad deals - making up a song for men's fragrance Old Spice.

Nathan who was number one in the Official Big Top 40 with his Wellerman remix, is still on a high following his label signing to Polydor.

In a post entitled: 'Number 1 in Germany. Honestly couldn't write this, soooo so so happy right now', Nathan told fans: "See in case you didn't already know, we are one number one in Germany."

"That's outrageous, absolutely outrageous, I didn't think it could get any bigger. Germany, number one in Germany, that is insane."

Nathan is still buzzing after announcing a UK tour of Glasgow, London, Manchester and Dublin from December 1 until December 12.

He said at the time: "This has been my dream since I was 6 years old, and now it’s coming true and I cannot wait to see all you guys there! It’s going to amazing!!! See you all soon".

He also told Rolling Stone: "I’ll prove that I’ve got other things in my locker".

Nathan was asked by Old Spice to make up a song for them and to the tune of Wellerman and he made up new lyrics incorporating the brand.

He sang: "There once was a fragrance that reminded me, of all the time when I was wee.

The smell was unmistakable and my granddad told me so.
