Sea Sessions 2019: How to get the sand out of your shoes and tent

Sea Sessions kicks off this on Friday and as many head down to the festival they’ll soon become victims of sandy tents and shoes.

As the festival is located along the Bundoran coast, campers are bound to suffer the nightmare of sand.

Getting sand in your shoes is unavoidable and although it may feel like it will be attached to you forever, there are so many ways to get rid of it.

Most people know how to get sand out of your shoes at this stage but there are some easy ways you may not think of.

Everyone knows to simply turn your shoes upside down and whack them against a wall to get the sand out but not many think to take the soles out while doing this.

By taking the soles out of your shoes you can reach the grains that get trapped, those ones that reappear a week later out of nowhere.

The soles of wellies and runners are easy to slip in and out and won’t ruin your shoes.

Wellies are also a good idea as footwear for Sea Sessions as they are far less likely to get sand inside to begin with.

Tents can be a pain when camping in the sand and no matter how careful you are with it.

The first rule of keeping sand away from your tent is to zip it up at all times as this allows for a barrier to be put up.

Put a mat down in front of the tent so before going in you can brush off your shoes and avoid dragging sand in as you come and go from the tent.

If you have enough space in bags, bring a bucket along to the festival that you can fill with water and leave outside your tent to wash your feet before going into the tent.

The beaches of Bundoran aren’t known for their vacuum cleaners so if you have the room pack a dustpan and brush as they can come in handy when cleaning out the tent.

The festival kicks off this Friday June 21 with Sigrid, Clean Bandit and Two Door Cinema Club headlining the festival.

The campsite opens for check-in on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and check out strictly closes at 10am on Monday.
