
Many tsurushibina -- small hina dolls in shapes such as fish and shrimp that are hung from the ceiling by string -- are displayed at the main venue of an annual event that started on Saturday in the town of Onjuku, Chiba Prefecture. The exhibits in the event, called Onjuku Machikado Tsurushibina Meguri, which heralds the arrival of spring, change every year. This year highlights the sea of the town. A total of about 100,000 dolls will be on display at about 30 locations across the town until the March 3 Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival).
