A sea of clouds rose in the garden of a luxury hotel in Tokyo and slowly shrouded the foliage in a fog. The mist was generated in a test conducted by Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo on Monday ahead of the inclusion of the capital in the government's Go To travel campaign.
The hotel, located in Bunkyo Ward, installed 2,000 water nozzles in the garden to spray a fine mist into the air and generate the fog. Hotel Chinzanso will stage "Tokyo Sea of Clouds" 10 times a day starting Thursday, when voluntary travel restrictions to and from Tokyo will be lifted. The hotel has also installed 1,000 lights in the garden to amplify the luminous effect at night.
"We hope many guests will enjoy this event, particularly those who have refrained from going out [during the pandemic]," an official said.
