SDMC draws residents' ire over milk booths in parks

NEW DELHI: South Delhi Municipal Corporation's scheme to open milk booths at parks in lieu of their maintenance by milk companies has started facing resistance from people.

Residents of GK-II filed a police complaint on Friday against opening of an outlet at Tikona Park without consulting them. The booth has been opened in a park other than the one identified by SDMC at GK-II's M-Block market, residents said.

"Some area in Tikona Park was cleared recently and after inquiry, it was found that there is a plan to set up a commercial milk booth there. When questioned, the organisation taking up the project handed over a copy of SDMC's no-objection certificate. But the RWA and residents had no prior intimation about such a proposal," stated the GK-II Welfare Association in a letter submitted to police.
