Exactly where Wren Kitchens’ first showroom will be located in its home borough has been revealed.
The rapidly expanding North Lincolnshire retail and manufacturing giant has become the second national operator to put forward plans to move into the former Toys R Us unit in Scunthorpe.
The Gallagher Retail Park outlet, left empty after the collapse of the business last year, is currently being converted into three separate units.
Grocery discounter Aldi confirmed this spring that it was looking to occupy one, and now Barton-based Wren has submitted a planning application for one of the remaining two units.
It had announced earlier this year that Scunthorpe was on the list as it rockets towards 100 showrooms in a decade of operations.
Having already had a manufacturing base in the town, the Howden-launched business brought forward by Hygena founder Malcolm Healey moved across the Humber in 2013, with huge expansion plans progressing at the 750,000 sq ft former Kimberly-Clark nappy plant, where a he transformation has also been carried out.
Despite being in the local authority as The Nest HQ - the St Andrew’s Quay showroom in Hull remains the closest.
The company has applied to North Lincolnshire Council for advertisement consent to display various illuminated and non-illuminated fascia signs on a unit approximately 7,500 sq ft in size.
A planned opening date for the branch and details of the number of jobs it will create are yet to be revealed, but previous openings have seen 25 jobs created.
Wren marked the opening of its 81st showroom in Sunderland last month.
