'Scrumthing' special is being lined-up as Perth Beer Festival returns to the North Inch in May

'Scrumthing' special is being lined-up as Perth Beer Festival returns to the North Inch this May.

Organised by Perthshire Rugby and sponsored by Tan International, preparations are now in full swing for the eagerly-awaited social fixture.

The action will kick-off on Friday, May 5 where a barrel of laughs will be on the menu at a Perth Comedy Night.

Headlining the humour will be one of Scotland’s leading stand-up comedians, local farmer Jim Smith. He also has a squad of handpicked comedians joining him.

The 10th Perth Beer Festival then bursts into life on Saturday, May 6 from 12 noon until 6pm for which entry is free.

As always and as has been the case in previous years, an array of activities and entertainment is being provided for revellers searching for a great day out.

There will be a live music stage, high-quality men and women’s rugby sevens and a funfair.

For those getting thirsty, a large selection of craft beers and gins will be available in the festival marquee.

Festivities will conclude with Perth Beer Festival’s ‘Big Bash’ finale on Saturday night from 7pm, with live music from Circus.

Allan Brown, chief executive of event organiser Perthshire Rugby, said: “We’re delighted to be back to celebrate our 10th Perth Beer Festival.

“The team have worked hard to put together a fantastic line-up of events. Entry will be free for Perth Beer Festival and tickets to our evening events are selling fast.”

Mr Brown added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming back people who have attended our events previously and people who haven’t been before to come along and celebrate 10 years of this great event and help us raise as much as we can for Perthshire Rugby.”
