For some, one misplaced vowel or forgotten consonant threatens to dash hopes and derail dreams at the 85th Scripps national spelling bee.
For others, it's a welcome relief.
"Overall, it was just boring," six-year-old Lori Anne Madison, the contest's youngest-ever entrant, sad after a misspelled word – "ingluvies – got her ejected from the bee.
"Really boring! Really boring!"
For those of you still paying close attention to the ebb and flow of the intellectual drama from Oxon Hill, Maryland, the final round is tonight at 8pm ET. Our man, brainy Brian Braiker, will be on the scene reporting.
