The winners of the 27th Screen Actors Guild awards were announced on Sunday, with the late actor Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis the big winners of the evening as they claimed the best actor and actress gongs for their roles in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

They also made history in the process, becoming the first Black male and female leads to win in the film category in the same year.

The honours for the best accomplishments in film and TV performances for the year 2020 were announced during a quick one-hour pre-taped ceremony that aired on American channels TBS and TNT.

The Crown claimed best drama series ensemble, and Schitt's Creek won the best comedy series ensemble.

Argentine-British actress and model Anya Taylor-Joy bagged the prize for best actress in a TV movie or limited series for her role in Netflix's breakout chess phenomenon The Queen’s Gambit.
