The Screen Actors Guild headquarters on New York's Upper West Side and Los Angeles were evacuated Tuesday following an unspecified threat.
The SAG-AFTRA New York office is at 1900 Broadway between Lincoln Center and Central Park. Employees there were not expected to return for the day. The West Coast office also closed for the day.
Union spokesperson Pam Greenwalt confirmed the scare to the Daily News.
"Earlier today, SAG-AFTRA received a telephone threat of an attack targeting our Los Angeles and New York offices. We immediately notified law enforcement, and they are on the scene investigating," Greenwald said.
The actors union said it shut down offices on both coasts shortly before 4 p.m. EST at the behest of law enforcement officials, who planned a thorough sweep.
"The safety of our members and staff is paramount and we are taking every precaution to effectively manage the situation as advised by the professional law enforcement representatives on site," Greenwald stated. "We have no other information to share at this time."
The nature of the threat remained unclear Tuesday.
