Milestone has confirmed the return of its long running Screamer series, announcing a March 26, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The team also released a new story trailer offering a deeper look at the game’s world and tone.
Screamer draws inspiration from classic JRPG storytelling, placing players in the middle of an illegal street racing tournament where five rival teams compete with everything on the line. Each team is made up of a leader and two members, all carrying their own motivations, pasts and personal stakes. The campaign allows players to experience the full story by stepping into the shoes of every character and uncovering how their paths connect.
The game is set in a dystopian future filled with anime inspired visuals and a heavy sci fi atmosphere. Its story is delivered through animated cutscenes created by Polygon Pictures, one of Japan’s most respected animation studios. An international voice cast featuring Troy Baker and Aleks Le helps bring the characters to life, adding to the cinematic feel established by the story trailer.
On the gameplay side, Screamer blends arcade racing with combat using a Twin Stick control system. The Echo System ties the story and gameplay together, letting players generate and spend Sync and Entropy to power both offensive and defensive moves during races.
