'Scrappy' - Nottingham Forest player ratings from Birmingham City defeat

Nottingham Forest’s seven-match unbeaten run in the league came to an end as they were beaten 2-1 at Birmingham City.

After Tiago Silva had opened the scoring, Lewis Grabban missed a penalty and the Blues hit back through Scott Hogan and Kristian Pedersen.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at St Andrew’s...

Brice Samba : Started off on the wrong foot when a casual error almost proved costly. Made a strong save in the second half, but two scrappy goals to concede. Rating: 5/10

Matty Cash : Forest could breathe a sigh of relief when the window closed last night. He’s still a Red, and still putting in good performances. Did well again. Rating: 6/10

Tobias Figueiredo : Much like his defensive partner, was solid for the most part and made some good clearances. Defence paid the price for being caught out twice. Rating: 6/10

Joe Worrall : Will be as frustrated as anyone with Birmingham’s goals. Had done pretty well otherwise. Kept trying to rally his teammates throughout. Rating: 6/10

Yuri Ribeiro : Tried to help push forward with some promising runs. Put in some decent balls, too as Forest tried to rescue the game Rating: 6/10

Ben Watson : Calm and composed presence in the centre of the pitch. Good in possession and made some important challenges. Generally did the simple things well. Rating: 7/10

Ryan Yates : Stepped into the side for the injured Samba Sow and had a decent game. Got stuck in when the game turned scrappy and won the penalty - just a shame Forest were unable to capitalise. Rating: 6/10

Joe Lolley : Started off looking really lively and nicely teed up Silva for the opener. Faded a bit as the game wore on and the Reds lost their way. Rating: 6/10

Tiago Silva : What a way to bag your first league goal in the Garibaldi. A thumping finish from the midfielder. Deserved to have counted for more. Rating: 6.5/10

Sammy Ameobi : Plugged away trying to be positive and make things happen. Final ball just wasn’t quite there - summed up by a wayward shot in the second half. Rating: 5/10

Lewis Grabban : Has been in top form lately, but this was just one of those days. Penalty saved. Hit the crossbar. Effort cleared off the line. The ball just would not go in. Rating: 6/10

Subs

Adama Diakhaby (for Ameobi, 61) : Had some bright moments, but missed a great chance for a late equaliser. Rating: 6/10

Alfa Semedo (for Yates, 70) : Couldn’t really impose himself on the match as the Reds searched for a point. Rating: 6/10

Tyler Walker (for Silva, 76) : A positive return for the striker. Did his best to try to help find a way back into the game. Rating: 7/10

Subs not used : Smith, Carvalho, Jenkinson, Dawson.
