Scrambler 'idiot' captured tearing through park with child on front of bike

This shocking image captured the moment a scrambler biker was spotted riding through a Merseyside park with a child on the handlebars.

The rider - who had his face covered - has a young girl resting in front of him as he rides the bike in St Helens .

Police issued an appeal for information on Sunday over concerns about an off-road biker carrying a child on one of the vehicles.

Officers wrote on social media: "This is how Queens Park should look - shame someone has to keep riding through it like an idiot on an off-road bike even carrying a young child on it."

The post appealed for details of the rider as police raised safeguarding concerns.

Dangerous & anti-social use of scrambler bikes across Merseyside

Scrambler bikes have been the source of complaints about reckless riding and anti-social behaviour, as well as more serious crimes, for several years on Merseyside.

They have also been involved in crashes that have led to deaths and serious injuries to both riders and pedestrians.

Many of the bikes do not meet road safety standards and, while they may be built for off-road use, can not be ridden legally in any public park in the region.

Anyone with details about this incident can contact Merseyside Police on 101.
