Scrambler bike seized during crackdown on yob bikers putting people at risk

A scrambler bike was seized during a crackdown on yobs that are putting people at risk.

The off-road vehicle was removed from an address by police in Maghull who were responding to complains of speeding in the area.

A number of people in the area had also reported incidents of scrambler bikes being used in an anti-social manner.

In response, Sefton community police officers carried out speed checks before speaking to residents who were concerned.

During their rounds the dark blue bike was seized and removed by police.

On Facebook, Sefton Police updated those in Maghull about their work.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Community Officers have been out and about in the Maghull area today responding to complaints about Speeding and the anti-social use of Scrambler Bikes.

"Officers conducted reassurance around addresses, carried out speeding enforcement and seized one scrambler bike."

Last month police released pictures of scrambler bike riders who the force said were causing "mayhem" in a Merseyside community.

The anti-social behaviour took place in  Lydiate,  a village within Sefton, with lots of rural areas.

The scourge has been highlighted during lockdown, with riders ignoring stay-at-home rules to cause chaos on streets, parkland and fields.
