Scrambler bike rider rushed to hospital after crash closes road

A street was sealed off by police after a crash between a van and a scrambler bike.

Police were called to the scene on Parkstile Lane in Croxteth by North West Ambulance Service just after 3.20pm today.

A road closure was quickly put in place as emergency services worked at the scene.

The rider of the scrambler bike, who is in his teens, was rushed to hospital with injuries to his face and arm.

Merseyside Police said his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the Renault van stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Footage taken at the scene shows officers wheeling the scrambler bike onto the back of a recovery van.

The road has now been reopened.

A police spokesperson said: "We are investigating following reports of a road traffic collision involving a van and a scrambler bike in Croxteth.

"Officers were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service following the collision at just after 3.20pm today on Parkstile Lane.

"The teenage male rider of the bike suffered injuries to his face and arm and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"The driver of the Renault van stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries."
