Scouting Combine: Georgia QB Jake Fromm has met with Bears

Bears general manager Ryan Pace has made it clear that they’re looking for competition at the quarterback position this offseason. Whether that’s in free agency or the NFL Draft, expect the Bears to be looking to bring in competition for incumbent starter Mitchell Trubisky.

Pace will certainly get a good look at the young crop of quarterbacks in this year’s draft at the NFL Scouting Combine. And it sounds like the Bears haven’t wasted any time getting acquainted with some of the young prospects.

Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm told reporters on Tuesday that he has met with the Bears.

Given Pace’s affinity for Georgia Bulldogs, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Bears targeted Fromm in the NFL Draft. Unlike Trubisky, Fromm’s experience at the collegiate level is vast, as he’s started 43 games for the Bulldogs.

Another thing Fromm has going for him is his decision making, which is something that Trubisky has struggled with in his first three seasons. Although Fromm isn’t a dual-threat with his legs like Trubisky, nor does he have impressive arm strength.

The Bears are certainly going to do their due diligence this offseason to address the quarterback position. And Fromm is definitely on their radar.
