Fans of Demi Moore would be forgiven for doing a double take of Scout Willis as the actress looked almost unmistakably like her mother during a day trip to the beach in California on Friday.
Taking to the shore in a striking red swimsuit, 29-year-old Scout looked as sensational as her 58-year-old mother – who continues to dazzle in swimsuits of her own.
With her long flowing dark hair, Scout echoed her mother’s appearance in films such as Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in which the older actress ran across a beach showcasing her toned figure in a simple bikini.
The pair – although not on the beach together – could have easily been mistaken for sisters rather than mother and daughter had they been out together at the same time.
Scout – who is the daughter of Demi and dad Bruce Willis, 65 – looked in high spirits as she soaked up the sun in the company of friends and a small dog.
Back in September 2019, Demi – who has two other daughters; 32-year-old Rumer and 26-year-old Tallulah – hinted that she was exercising to excess in order to keep her famously trim figure.
She wrote in her autobiography, Inside Out, at the time: “I didn't feel like I could stop exercising.”
She explained that her obsession with exercise began when she had to wear a uniform in the 1992 film A Few Good Men.
She wrote: “It was my job to fit into that unforgiving military uniform I'd be wearing in two months in A Few Good Men.
“Getting in shape for that movie launched the obsession with working out that would consume me over the next five years. I never dared let up.”
She welcomed Scout not long before beginning work on A Few Good Men.
While Demi felt further pressure to look her best for her role in the 1993 film Indecent Proposal.
She wrote: “'I would be on display again, and all I could think about was my body, my body, my body.
“I doubled down on my already over-the-top exercise routine. I cut out carbs, I ran and I biked and I worked out on every machine imaginable.”
Then followed 1996’s Striptease: “When I was making Striptease, for breakfast I would measure out a half cup of oatmeal and prepare it with water, then for the rest of the day I would have only protein and some vegetables — and that was it.
“If all this obsessing about my body sounds crazy to you, you're not wrong: eating disorders are crazy, they are a sickness. But that doesn't make them less real.”
She went on to say she had “an epiphany” while training to appear in the 1997 film G.I.Jane where she decided: “I just need to be my natural size” after which she scaled back exercise and turned her home gym into an office.
