Scousers have fun despite the rain on Grand National Thursday at Aintree

The Grand National festival is a chance to put on your best dress or suit and show the world how fabulous you are.

And racegoers haven't let the windy weather and heavy rain spoil their fun, despite it being one of the wettest days we can remember at the Grand National in recent years.

Women arrived at Grand National Thursday in an array of stylish outfits, including colour block dresses and stylish pant suits, while men donned checkered suits.

But one universal accessory punters were carrying was an umbrella.

Showers started mid morning and continued over lunchtime - and further rain is expected this afternoon.

Temperatures will reach highs of just 9°C and the day will be breezy with winds of up to 35km/h.

Luckily, Ladies Day is due to be a drier, but don't expect glorious blue skies as Friday is set to be overcast.

The day will be cloudy throughout, but the good news is, rain is currently not forecast.

Here are some of the gorgeous men and women defying the chilly weather at Aintree Racecourse today.
