Scousers are the only people who say 'Pancake Tuesday' and we can't believe it

For pancake lovers, today is the day you've been waiting for, a day when it becomes acceptable to eat as many pancakes as you can manage at whatever time you like.

Here in Liverpool we'd say today is 'Pancake Tuesday' and it has always been deemed as correct.

Of course, we are aware of its official name of Shrove Tuesday but other than this, the day's name has always been inclusive of the 'Tuesday' to us.

However, it has now emerged that it is only Scousers who say Pancake Tuesday, while the rest of the country call it ' Pancake Day '.

It has caused a big debate in the ECHO office this afternoon, so to settle the debate let us know what you call it by answering our poll below...

No matter what you call today, there are plenty of places in the city serving up pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

Jack's Supermarket in Edge Hill will be serving up the Scouse pancakes to celebrate the Liverpool classic as one of the best British dishes according to a poll carried out by the supermarket chain.

The poll was launched by Jack’s, part of the Tesco family, who wanted to discover which dishes are considered to be the very best of British.
