'Scouse Tommy' killed in his own home 'should have been safe' say neighbours

Tributes have poured in for a young man who was killed in his own home.

On Sunday evening a 36-year-old man was attacked by intruders in his Kirkby home.

He has since been named locally as Thomas Edmunds, as neighbours paid touching tributes to him.

He was described by locals as a neighbour who kept himself to himself and had moved to Clorain Road from north Liverpool about 18 months ago.

Merseyside Police said three people have since been arrested in connection with Mr Edmunds death.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "A Home Office Post Mortem has confirmed that he died of asphyxiation. It is believed to be a targeted attack, as the victim and offenders are understood to be known to each other.

"A 38-year-old man from Old Swan has now been arrested on suspicion of murder, and taken to a police station for questioning. Two men arrested yesterday, aged 32 and 34, remain in custody."

Tributes have since been paid to Mr Edmunds on social media.

James Anthony said: "So sad , RIP Edmo"
