Glasgow roundabout closure will cause weeks of disruption for drivers

Road works are being planned for the south west of Glasgow, with Scottish Water warning motorists of disruption to travel.

A roundabout will be partially closed while work gets underway to improve the water mains network in the Ibrox, Mosspark, Pollok, Priesthill, Nitshill and Parkhouse areas.

The project will take place from November 22 over three weeks.

The closure will mean road users cannot use the roundabout to go from Levernside Road to Lyoncross Road or Braidcraft Road, Lyoncross Road to Levernside Road, or Braidcraft Road to Lyoncross Road.

However, they will be able to go from Lyoncross Road to Braidcraft Road, as the eastbound carriageway of Braidcraft Road at the roundabout will remain open. Diversions will be put in place.

Scottish Water has liaised with Glasgow City Council’s roads department when planning the road traffic management. Chiefs apologise for inconvenience and thank affected road users in advance for their patience and understanding.

The road closure will enable Scottish Water to carry out important pipe installation at the roundabout as part of the Glasgow Resilience Project, which involves the installation of seven miles of new pipes to connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire.

The project is being delivered for Scottish Water by Caledonia Water Alliance, our alliance partner and is expected to be completed in 2023.
