Scottish Water say sorry as supply returns for nearly 500 properties in Hamilton

Over 490 properties in Hamilton were affected by burst mains which left them without a running supply of water for 24 hours.

However, Scottish Water said that normal supplies have since been restored to all customers who were affected.

Many customers experienced low pressure, discoloured water and, in some cases, none at all due to a faulty valve.

Bottles of water were delivered to drop-off points in the areas affected for customers to use.

Scottish Water technicians worked round the clock at the junction of Burnblea Street and Alness Street to restore normal supplies as quickly as possible.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “Most customers had normal supplies restored earlier yesterday and, after we recharged the network and introduced a backfeed, supplies were restored to all remaining affected customers.

“Some of the affected customers, who were in the ML36 and ML37 post code areas, were without water from early Wednesday.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience and understanding while we worked to restore normal supplies.”
