Scottish Vermouth maker closes £120,000 crowdfunder in two days

A Scottish Vermouth maker has launched a feasibility study for its new Scottish Borders headquarters, after hitting a £120,000 crowdfunding target in two days.

Tait Bros secured the money from more than 170 investors during its Crowdcube funding campaign.

The money will help finance the new headquarters, along with making new hires and the developing new products next year.

Brothers Dominic and David Tait have already earmarked several locations around the Borders, with a preferred site near Melrose.

The plans include facilities for small batch production, as well as a licensed bar, taproom and 'experimentation studio'.

Valentian Vermouth has also made its first hire, with a new sales executive and brand representative for the west of Scotland due to begin in January.

It has also signed a deal with two new national Scottish wholesalers, as well as new stockists and new partnerships with Fhior in Edinburgh, The Gate and Bar Vini in Glasgow.

Tait Bros is planning to release two new Vermouths next year and two different Christmas gift packs due to be released later this month.

Dominic Tait, co-founder at Tait Bros, said: “The response to our crowdfunder was beyond anything we could have hoped for, and it’s an incredible feeling to see so many people put their faith - and money - in Valentian Vermouth.

“We are beyond pleased with the plans for our new brand home, and very optimistic about the sites we have identified.

“Once the feasibility study is complete, we will then look to move onto the next stage with planning - it’s too early to say exactly when it will open, but we will have an update soon.”
