Scottish twitter users leave John Lewis red-faced over 'Fud the dragon' stuffed toy

John Lewis have been left red-faced over the name of a stuffed toy dragon

The department store proudly boasted the £21 Jellycat 'Fud Dragon' as an ideal companion who is "nothing but friendly. Soft and fluffy, with adorable little wings".

But Scottish Twitter users have reacted in their own inimitable style over the double meaning of the word 'Fud' - slang for a 'foolish' person or female genitals.

Twitter user @Melisandreilidh posted about the questionable name choice on Saturday, writing: "Tell me you don't have a Scottish person on your development team without telling me you don't have a Scottish person on your development team."

The Twitter user posted a screenshot of Fud from the John Lewis website, gaining almost 200 shares and over 1,600 likes.

According to the Daily Record, John Lewis advertise Fud the Dragon on their website, writing: "He may breathe fire, but Jellycat's Fud the Dragon is nothing but friendly.

"Soft and fluffy, with adorable little wings, this cuddly chap will sit by your side and give cuddles aplenty."

Jellycat, the company responsible for creating Fud, stock the same dragon on their website but have referred to him as Fuddlewuddle Dragon.

Speaking today, a spokeswoman for John Lewis said: "To save his blushes, we're updating our website now and will be giving Fuddle Wuddle his full title in future."

A spokesperson for manufacturer Jellycat added: "Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention; this is most certainly a typo which we have brought to John Lewis' attention straight away to be corrected."
