Scottish Tories investigating reports about MP's behaviour in Commons bar

Scottish Tories are investigating reports one of their MPs was involved in an incident in a Palace of Westminster bar.

The move follows reports that complaints were made about the behaviour of Aberdeen South MP Ross Thomson.

Police said they were called to a bar in the Palace of Westminster on Tuesday night after a report of "sexual touching".

Scotland Yard said officers spoke to three men though no formal allegations were made and no one was arrested.

A statement in regards to the incident said: "Police were called at approximately 23:00 hours on 5 February to a bar within the Palace of Westminster following a report of sexual touching.

"Officers attended and spoke to the parties involved, three men in their 20s and 30s.

"However, no formal allegations were made to the officers and no arrests were made."

The situation is believed to have unfolded in the Strangers’ Bar.

A spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives said: "We are aware of reports of an incident last night and the matter is being looked into. We have no further comment to make at this stage."

The Standard has approached Mr Thomson for comment.
